Sample Job Description: Director of Market Development


Drives business development and marketing strategies and tactics to scale our on-demand product usage and user base resulting in increased brand awareness, enterprise platform leads, and revenue. This position reports to the EVP of Marketing and Business Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Owns key metrics for users, usage, leads, and revenue
  • Develops and executes innovative viral, gorilla, and conventional marketing programs to meet key metrics - short and long term
  • Identifies key go-to-market partners for scale and market awareness
  • Leads business development efforts to develop and secure key alliances
  • Acts as sales overlay in key enterprise opportunities
  • Drives content conception and creation for programs and website
  • Optimizes lead capture, filtering, scoring, and activation processes
  • Provides user feedback to product marketing and management teams for product roadmap requirements
  • Develops reporting mechanisms and dashboards for executive visability
  • Provides sales enablement tools and artifacts for inside sales
  • Supports PR efforts with press and analysts
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of the organization demonstrating strong leadership abilities
  • Develops a multi-year business plan for sustained profit and growth as an independent business unit

Job Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience in high tech/software environment in marketing, product marketing and/or business development roles
  • Demonstrated track record in growing early stage technologies and companies
  • Proven success driving demand generation strategies and programs
  • Extensive business development experience securing and cultivating strategic alliances with tier one SI's and ISV's
  • Business plan development and execution experience
  • Experience marketing Web 2.0, SaaS applications is a plus
  • Experience with Eloqua and Salesforce.com a plus
